Sound fundamentals of Database – Knowledge of configuring database clients, establishing a connection and creating a session.
Understands the physical structure and memory structure. Knows different types of indexes and their uses Database Architecture, Basic Administration, Security and Auditing – Familiarity with key components of database architecture.
Strong Knowledge on Clustering Configuration of SQL Server Client components, Knowledge on SQL Server logins, users and schemas.
OS administration knowledge, OS parameters for configuring SQL Server database, understanding of SQL Server security and audit parameters.
Familiarity with User administration. Understanding of MS SQL Server security and audit parameters.
Backup/ Recovery and Performance Tuning – Knowledge about different Backup and Recovery options. Familiar with Export, User managed backups.
Understanding of types of failures in a database environment, Knowledge about Database Performance tuning.
Understanding of CPU, Disk I/O and other memory components.
Analyse and report minor performance issues and report.
Enterprise Management Tools and High Availability architecture: Monitoring database server using SQL Server profiler tool.
Proactive monitoring and administration: Basic understanding of SQL Server Management Studio
